Our Village
The
committee is constantly looking for new projects to improve our
community. Any proposals (which can be made via the "Contact Us" web
page) will be added to our five year plan (2008-2013) and funding will
be sought to implement these projects. The current proposals are as
follows:
Five year plan (2008-2013)
- New lighting for the village.
- Planting arrangements.
- Speed control outside the school.
- Parking and play area.
- Preservation of the forge.
- Increase Council funding.
Previous
Projects (1998-2008)
A
number of projects have been identified and addressed since the
foundation of the association in 1998. These projects are listed below.
Hall Refurbishment:
This included the repair of the roof, replacement of all windows, improved lighting, decorating, sanding of the floors, upgrading the stage, new spotlights, new chairs and tables, replacement of footpaths with brick paving, safety barrier & bollards, wheelchair entrance, upgrading to a new zoned heating system.
Public Lighting:
Six extra lights were erected and existing lighting upgraded in the village.
Millennium Project:
Erection of tennis court in the school and the provision of flowers & planting in the village adjacent to the church and hall.
Litter Free Roadside:
Regular village cleanups and entry into the tidy towns national competition.
Boundary Development Plan:
A submission was made to the Cork County Council (2005-2010 Plan). This involved conducting a survey and data was collected from 60% of the households in the area.
Heritage sub-committee:
A sub committee was formed resulting in the restoration of St. Quanes Well and other historical sites in the area.
Upgrade of Ballylucra Cemetery:
This was completed in conjunction with Timebank & Cork County Council.
Provision of Local Signposting:
The village crest in now incorporated at the entrances to the village and on the site of the hall.

Church area:Tarmac for the church carpark , provision of flood lighting in the church grounds & landscaping the entrance to Chapelfield and adjacent to the old school.
